ABOUT ABA THERAPY

Focus on increasing necessary skills and reducing behaviors that interfere with learning.

Applied Behavioral Analysis, also known as ABA, is an evidenced-based science in which procedures derived from the principles of behavior and learning are systematically applied to a meaningful degree. This data-driven process allows us to see that such procedures implemented were responsible for your child's behavior improvement. ABA therapy is a gold standard and proven intervention used to support and provide effective treatment to individuals with behavioral and developmental exceptionalities.

An important part of learning is dictated by the experiences in our children’s environment, such as the way they sit to eat a meal, get dressed in the morning, or interact with peers. Behavior is everything we do, and it is a function of its consequences. In ABA, we use research-based techniques, data collection, and analysis to implement individualized procedures to improve socially significant skills and reduce maladaptive behaviors that interfere with our day to day lives.

ABA Parent Training

ABOUT PARENT TRAINING

Being a proactive member makes all the difference. How does parent training work?

ABA Parent/Caregiver Training is the process in which a trained professional such as a BCBA or BCaBA works with parents or caregivers to help them understand the functions of their child’s behaviors and modify the environment to be more successful. While the work of our RBTs can help improve the life of your child, this process must continue beyond the clinical setting. Thus, parents/caregivers meet with our therapists, who teach them how to use specific procedures to alter interactions with their child, promote socially appropriate behaviors, and reduce maladaptive behaviors.

Not doing so could potentially compromise or delay the process and make it harder to reach behavioral goals. Parent training will tell you why specific behaviors occur and how to respond to them effectively. Our goal is to educate you, parents and caregivers, to continue the progress at home and make a cohesive and involved growth experience. Furthermore, to provide everyone involved in raising your child the tools and strategies needed to see them thrive. We find that children progress more rapidly when parents and other family members are involved.

Social Skills Group Therapy

ABOUT SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP THERAPY

Implementing our learned skills into real-life scenarios is the real assessment of our gains.

As a parent, you may wonder how social skills groups could be an effective treatment for your child. First, social skills refer to a child’s ability to interact with people. These skills are necessary for your child to make friends, succeed in school, and even prepare for adult life. It might be a bit difficult for children to obtain. Here is where the social skills group comes in. Social Skills Groups are small groups led by a trained professional, who facilitates and teaches kids how to interact appropriately with others their age. Now, how does it work?

Social Skills Group Therapy has a defined purpose and goal. The therapist may lead your kid to exercises to learn the skills needed to deal with whatever social challenge he/she may face. These may include role-play, turn-taking, problem-solving, and even field trips! Therapists will not only demonstrate situations he/she may encounter in life but also how to behave appropriately in such a situation.

ABA Potty Training

ABOUT ABA POTTY TRAINING

Learning to use the toilet further grows and increases our child’s confidence.

Thinking about aba potty training a child can be an overwhelming feeling. For parents of children with various exceptionalities, taking on this challenge could be an ample undertaking. It takes our kiddos with exceptionalities longer to learn day-to-day skills. Needless to say, it will take a little extra time to accomplish this goal. Having the right tools and resources will help the process go smoother. For this reason, traditional approaches to toilet training may not always be helpful. This is where applied behavioral analysis (ABA) comes into play.

Because of the specific needs of each child and family, our potty-training program is individually designed. Spending the time needed to understand your child and family’s strengths and weaknesses is imperative for the success of this process. We utilize these strengths to provide positive reinforcement and focus heavily on areas of weakness so these, too, can become strengths.
